Box 5 Folder 25: "Folder 25 is a color picture of Carl Daniels. In December, 2012, I spoke with him and he relayed his history as follows: He worked at WJLD in 1965 while in high school. (Could have been a WJLD Newshawk); He left in 1967 for WENN; Left in 1969 for WSGN (first Black at a major white station); He left in 1971 back to WENN; left WENN to work at Channel 13, Birmingham from 1971 until 1989; Left in 1989 to work at WERC AM until 1992. Left the area in 2001 and moved to Rochester, NY. History dictated to Bob Friedman by Carl Daniels."

I met Carl when I was a teenager working at a service station near his home in Birmingham. He was kind enough to take me and my buddy by WSGN to sit in the booth with him while he did the newscast. I thought he was the coolest ever!
